HNTB Intelligent Transportation and Emerging Mobility Solutions Project Engineer in Allentown, Pennsylvania

HNTB is looking for a candidate passionate about applying cutting edge technologies to solve mobility challenges such as connected and automated vehicles, smart mobility, emerging mobility, electric vehicles and big data. The ideal candidate will be a creative and forward-thinking problem solver, looking to coordinate the efforts of the design team. This position could be located in any of our Pennsylvania offices (Philadelphia, Allentown, King of Prussia, Harrisburg or Pittsburgh).

The ideal candidate will provide coordination of project execution and control, to achieve continuity of purpose within scope, budget, and time schedules from initial start-up through project closeout. Coordinates efforts of assigned design team to ensure completeness and accuracy of design effort and serves as technical liaison with client on project efforts.

What You'll Do:

  • Responsible for the planning and distribution of discipline-specific work, and adherence the to the schedule and budget on projects.

  • Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.

  • Assists with the development of scope of work and level of effort for projects and/or assignments within discipline.

  • Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work within the technical discipline. Guides and mentors team to overall project objectives.

  • Coordinates technical aspects of project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level for work within the discipline.

  • Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience, or

  • Master’s degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience, or

  • PhD in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience

What You'll Bring:

  • Research upcoming technology advancements related to emerging mobility including ITS, connected and automated vehicles, shared mobility, electric vehicles.

  • Oversees the development of systems engineering related reports and plans based on project analyses and assessment.

  • Guides the collection of field data, analyzed data, and prepared studies to support decisions on transportation systems, policies, standards.

  • Supports the preparation of Intelligent Transportation Systems designs, plans, specifications and reports.

  • Responsible for coordination and productivity of direct reports. Provides technical guidance to less experienced engineers.

  • Assist with project management duties.

  • Deliver project discipline scope elements within budget and schedule.

  • Coordination with clients and builds effective client relationships.

What We Prefer:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering

  • 8 years relevant experience

  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification

  • PennDOT/PTC experience

  • Emerging technology; CV, AV and EV solutions

  • Experience with connected and autonomous vehicles

  • Experience with communications technologies

  • Experience with ITS design and transportation systems management and operations (TSM&O) tools

  • Knowledge and experience using CADD Software, such as MicroStation or AutoCAD
