As a Project Engineer Vehicles at HNTB, you have a full breadth of knowledge of vehicle engineering and continue to apply and expand your design and functional knowledge base of Rail and Transit vehicle systems. You will apply what you know to assist in developing critical performance characteristics of systems, maintenance requirements and issues that are associated with the lifecycle of rail and transit vehicles. You will lead teams working on Rail and Transit projects that involve fleet capital investment, maintenance and operations, design and overhaul, forensic science, and other engineering applications. Performance of the work will be a combination of team and individual effort. Some work will be in the field while some will be office-based. A Project Engineer Vehicles will work independently and support the mentoring and development of junior staff. A Project Engineer Vehicles will be self-guided and will continue to develop a full portfolio of expertise to grow within HNTB.
What You'll Do:
Responsible for the planning and distribution of discipline-specific work, and adherence the to the schedule and budget on projects.
Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.
Assists with the development of scope of work and level of effort for projects and/or assignments within discipline.
Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work within the technical discipline. Guides and mentors team to overall project objectives.
Coordinates technical aspects of project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level for work within the discipline.
Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience, or
Master’s degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience, or
PhD in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience
What You'll Bring:
Design reveiw, testing and acceptance of vehicles and sub systems for large transit agencies.
Task management of engineering assignment and delegation to junior engineers
Understands the impacts of decisions on technical design and work planning.
Coordinates work planning and design effectively across multiple technical disciplines.
Prepares high quality deliverables that are on time, and within budget and scope.
What We Prefer:
Master’s degree in Engineering
8 years relevant experience
Professional Engineer (PE) certification
American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification (depending on discipline)

The approximate pay range for New York is $88,704.95 - $173,429.55. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.

The approximate pay range for Maryland is $93,140.20 - $159,555.19. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.
