Responsible for the profitable delivery of a design build portfolio of projects for a specified client or within a geographical area or Business Unit. Plans, directs and controls activities of the business unit to accomplish budget financial objectives, while building consensus with other business units.

Job Summary

Responsible for the profitable operation of a specified (client) Business Unit (typically at least $100MM in revenue), including developing leads, client contact, winning work, and ensuring profitability of work performed. Develops short and long term strategic business objectives for the business unit. Plans, directs and controls activities of the business unit to accomplish budget financial objectives. Directs such functions as production, research, engineering, marketing/sales, purchasing and accounting.

Essential Responsibility

  • Manages the day-to-day operations and P&L for a division and provides strategic direction to successfully achieve the division’s success and overall strategic goals.

  • Builds and implements effective marketing initiatives, in conjunction with the senior leadership, to drive positive revenue growth.

  • Directs and is responsible for project delivery (within Client base) with respect to all metrics used to determine project results.

  • Develops and nurtures effective and lasting customer/client relationships. Responsible for developing clear line of communication between the client and the firm.

  • Works closely with other business units to build integrated and effective solutions and leverage existing client relationships.

  • Builds a bench of strong managers and executives that strengthen the Business Units success.

  • Builds/maintains effective relationships with key national clients/customers. Responsible for developing a vertical relationship system that aligns with the client organization.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

Manages the day-to-day operations and P&L for design build projects in a division or specified program and provide strategic direction to successfully achieve the division’s success and overall strategic goals.

Project specific assignments as assigned.

Basic Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field

15 years experience in key leadership position in Architecture/Engineering/Planning (AEP) or closely related business

Preferred Qualification/Skills

Master's degree in Engineering

Professional Engineer (PE), AIA, or equivalent

A strategic visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operations focus.

Well organized and self-directed individual who is “politically savvy” and a team player.

Executive level management skills.

General Work Conditions

Combination Office and Field Environment: Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client’s job site, construction trailer, and in the field. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.
