HNTB Assistant Program Quality Engineer in Atlanta, Georgia

What We're Looking For

Provides technical support to the GDOT Program Consultant Management (PMC) team in the Quality space, for both the Programmatic and the Project.

Primary Focus will include:

  • Assist with Programmatic Quality Initiatives

  • Assist with Project-centric Quality Initiatives, in particular in standing-up Post-Let MMIP Projects

  • Assist with Quality Auditing & Compliance activities

  • Maintain Quality Oversight Implementation Tools/Trackers

  • Additional quality-related assignments per PMC Leadership

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Professional Engineering (EI, PE) and/or American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification a plus, not a requirement.

  • The successful candidate should understand construction, preferably in the Design/Build space, as well as how Design/Build contractors ‘think’.

  • The successful candidate should understand what it means to be a consultant and how to work on behalf of the client working to drive Project success.

  • The successful candidate will also possess a work philosophy that diffuses tensions and apprehension, builds trust, and demonstrates genuine interest in the success of the Team/Project.

  • Most importantly, the successful candidate must demonstrate the requisite soft-skill abilities as noted above; the Auditing and Oversight can (and will) be trained. Having a safety mindset is key.

Working Environment:

  • Work will be performed in both the Office as well as in the Field Office, at the Project site.

  • Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment, and doing extensive walking.

  • Work environment may require use of construction / inspection safety equipment including fall equipment. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for development of the project scope and fee quotation and assists in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).

  • Serves as the primary client liaison and manages the project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and to the client’s satisfaction. Assists with client project scoping and contract negotiations.

  • Performs technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.

  • Implements the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Leads the development and the execution of the project management plan. Supervises and mentors team to overall project objectives.

  • Performs coordination with managers on project staffing, including, but not limited to; recruitment, development, retention, and succession of project staff; development of plan for project staff reporting; and support for performance and compensation reviews.

  • Partners with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for strategic and mini-mega projects in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). Works with the project team and marketing resources to prepare appropriate proposal and presentation materials. Leads proposal development and interview presentations for strategic and mini-mega projects to the client as well as general presentations within the industry and community.

  • May be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, development, and retention of staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience

  • 2 years task management or Deputy PM experience
