HNTB Design-Build Quality Manager- Transportation in Atlanta, Georgia

What We're Looking For

This individual will be focused on highway construction quality assurance by providing technical and engineering support to the Post-Let Project Management Team in the areas of Quality oversight for administrative, design, and construction functions.

As a key team member of the Post-Let Project Management Team (PMT), this individual will directly report to the Deputy PMT Project Manager with dashed-line (indirect) report to the Program Quality Manager.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Quality Oversight Compliance

  • Quality Oversight Implementation (Audit Schedule)

  • NCR & NCE Audit and Tracking

  • Additional quality-related assignments per PMT leadership

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management

  • 15 years’ experience in project/construction management or quality management in a technical industry

  • Professional Engineer (PE) and/or American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the Project Manager (PM), develop, proactively manage the implementation, and ensure project team adherence to the design quality procedures and plan in strict accordance with contractual requirements, HNTB’s Sophisticated Win Plan for DB Projects, Manual of Professional Practice (MPP) and HNTB Standards of Performance.

  • Serve as subject matter expert to project teams in development of quality procedures and plan. Leverages EDT Quality Director expertise as required for development and implementation.

  • Monitor and ensure adherence by HNTB project staff and subconsultant to design quality procedure and plan requirements for the production, submittal and approval of contract deliverables within contract schedules and budgets.

  • This work can be in the pre- and post-award and post-design construction phases of the project.

  • Works with other DPMs, PM, Division Chief Engineer, Division Delivery Center, EDT Staff and Division Design Integration Group to ensure implementation of Division technologies and effective cost-efficient delivery approaches.

  • Identify and assess actual and potential problem areas in design quality implementation/adherence and lead efforts to formulate and execute recovery plans to achieve 4for4.

  • Participate in monthly (minimum) Project Reviews at the direction and discretion of the PM.

  • Participate in development, in collaboration with the PM, Division Director and Division Resource Officer, of a project team that encompasses all the necessary firm wide resources and technical capabilities of HNTB for project delivery that maximizes efficiency and 4for4 performance.

  • Deliver quality training.

  • Identify and implement opportunities for improvement.

  • Report on and provide recommendations to leadership regarding the performance of the quality management system.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have at least 12 years of experience, with at least 3 years in a Design/Technical Quality position

  • Must have experience working on project with design fees exceeding $15MM

  • Registered Professional Engineer preferred

  • Design-build (DB) delivery experience required

  • Superior communication skills required

  • Superior interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, managers, officers, sub-consultants and technical staff
