HNTB Post Let Deputy Project Manager in Atlanta, Georgia

What We're Looking For

HNTB's Atlanta Office is seeking a Deputy Project Manager for the successful delivery of Post Let Projects, as part of GDOT Office of Alternative Delivery. This role leads the management of a team consisting of civil engineers in support of the Georgia Department of Transportation delivery of alternative delivery projects. The successful candidate is responsible for task management of the project's technical budget, schedule, technical requirements, contractual obligations, project communications and performance.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Report to a Project Manager.

  • Daily interaction with the Georgia Department of Transportation, supporting consultants, Design Build Team, and stakeholders.

  • Ensure proper administration of the project agreement thru the utilization of the project management team.

  • Manage technical reviews thru the utilization of subject matter expert reviews of Design Build Team submittals.

  • Evaluate risks and manage project scope, schedule, and budget.

  • Coordinate with the projects communications team to provide timely updates to stakeholders and the media.

  • Led tasks for GDOT Alternative project with a focus on heavy civil highway projects in excess of $50 million.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • 9 years relevant experience.

  • In lieu of education, 13 years of relevant experience.

  • Professional Engineer (PE), American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level III

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for development of the project scope and fee quotation and assists in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).

  • Coordinates project activities establishes priorities and staff to jobs. Prepares Summary Inspection Report of Daily activities. Monitors contractor progress and compares with the reviewed progress schedule. Resolves technical field issues, and coordinates with Architects and Engineers for timely and accurate responses to requests for information.

  • Oversees project controls, including checking contractors’ controls and coordinating schedules, reviews constructors schedule.

  • Reviews submittals for conformance to plans and specifications. Develops strategies with the contractor to create submittal packages that conform to schedule requirements.

  • Implements the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Leads the development and the execution of the project management plan. Supervises and mentors team to overall project objectives. Identifies and resolves non-compliant work.

  • Provides interpretation and enforcement of contract plans and specifications. Develops strategies with the contractor to create submittal packages that conform to schedule requirements.

  • Confirms change order requests, develops estimates, negotiates costs, and writes change orders.

  • Provides cost control on projects and quality control within discipline.

  • Partners with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for strategic and mini-mega projects in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). Works with the project team and marketing resources to prepare appropriate proposal and presentation materials. Leads proposal development and interview presentations for strategic and mini-mega projects to the client as well as general presentations within the industry and community.

  • May be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, development, and retention of construction staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession.

  • Typically responsible for running projects up to $10M in construction value and key role in mini-mega project pursuits.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or relevant degree and 8 years relevant experience.

  • In lieu of education, 12 years of relevant experience.
