HNTB Traffic/ITS Department Manager in Atlanta, Georgia

What We're Looking For

Now is the right time to join the HNTB team in Atlanta. This Traffic/ITS Department Manager is responsible for direction and supervision of a large traffic group. This person coordinates project priorities, staffing schedules, and staff assignments to ensure clients are provided the best design capabilities to meet their needs. They are responsible for technical coaching and mentoring and efficient, productive utilization of staff in providing high-quality service.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Responsible for direction and supervision of a professional/technical group providing traffic/ITS project development, design and engineering services to agencies in accordance with HNTB standards of performance including management of project budget, quality, schedule and client satisfaction.

  • Leading and/or supporting the pursuit of new traffic/ITS work to support and grow the department

  • Coordinating project priorities, staffing schedules, and staff assignments to ensure clients are provided the best capabilities to meet their needs

  • Responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and maintenance of design engineering programs and efficient, productive utilization of staff in providing high quality service.

  • Developing and nurturing relationships with key clients in the region as part of the firm, division, and office strategic plans.

  • Hiring, supervising, developing, and evaluating staff, as well as establishing and approving budgets for the group

  • Maintaining current knowledge of industry services, projects, and trends

  • Helping to maintain industry recognition through prominence in regional and national professional associations

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master's degree in Engineering

  • PE/AICP

  • Experience in Georgia and/or Tennessee

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Actively manages assigned project management activities (project scope, schedule, budget and quality management) and performs technical discipline tasks including research, reports, design, specifications and plan preparation.

  • Implements and executes the firm’s Sophisticated Sales Approach, Sophisticated Contracting Approach and Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SSA, SCA, SDA).

  • Responsible for the hiring, supervision, mentoring, professional development, evaluation and termination of department staff members.

  • Coordinates department activities and assigns priorities and staff to projects.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • 16 years relevant experience

  • 4 years supervisory experience
