The time is right to join HNTB! We are currently seeking a Transportation Department Manager for our Atlanta, Georgia office.
Responsible for direction and supervision of a large professional or technical group. Coordinates project priorities, staffing schedules, and staff assignments to ensure clients are provided the best design capabilities to meet their needs. Responsible for technical coaching and mentoring and efficient, productive utilization of staff in providing high-quality service.
Actively manages assigned project management activities (project scope, schedule, budget and quality management) and performs technical discipline tasks including research, reports, design, specifications and plan preparation.
Implements and executes the firm’s Sophisticated Sales Approach, Sophisticated Contracting Approach and Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SSA, SCA, SDA).
Responsible for the hiring, supervision, mentoring, professional development, evaluation and termination of department staff members.
Coordinates department activities and assigns priorities and staff to projects.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Identifies and markets business opportunities with key clients.
Develops and enhances key client relationships and serve as one of the primary company contacts.
Develops overall department growth and performance strategy aligning with District, Division, and Corporate goals.
Secures and manages the profitable operation of multiple projects or mega projects
Full managerial responsibility for all aspects of the project including scope development, contract negotiations, cost control, staff management, quality control and cash management on large and multiple projects.
Actively manages HNTB budget and schedule, project communications and documentation.
Administers relevant aspects of a formal quality control program.
Coordinates work efforts and reviews work performed.
Manages and delivers quality civil transportation projects on-time, within budget and to the satisfaction of the client.
Manages and Develops staff aligned with growth initiatives and individual career goals.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
16 years relevant experience
4 years supervisory experience
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline plus a minimum of 12 years of experience in the design, management and implementation of civil transportation projects.
Licensed Georgia Professional Engineer (P.E.) or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
Experience managing successful, profitable large transportation design projects.
Understanding of DOT policy and procedures. GDOT standards and requirements preferred.
Experience marketing to civil transportation clients in Georgia preferred.
Project planning and NEPA process background a plus.
Experience with other transportation sectors such as MARTA, Norfolk Southern and/or CSX a plus.
General Work Conditions
Combination Office and Field Environment: Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client’s job site, construction trailer, and in the field. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.
