HNTB Department Manager - Civil Works in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

What We're Looking For

Responsible for direction and supervision of a large professional or technical group. Coordinates project priorities, staffing schedules, and staff assignments to ensure clients are provided the best design capabilities to meet their needs. Responsible for technical coaching and mentoring and efficient, productive utilization of staff in providing high-quality service.

Primary Focus Will Include:

Department Manager - Civil Works

  • Developing and nurturing relationships with key clients in the region as part of the firm, division, and office strategic plans. Clients include, among others, CPRA, USACE, Coastal Parishes, Baton Rouge, New Orleans.

  • Developing new business and winning work in the civil works and federal client market

  • Responsible for project delivery and performance of assigned Civil Works staff, consistent with HNTB standards of performance and vision including management of project budget, quality, schedule and client satisfaction parameters

  • Accounting for the development and performance of sales goals and marketing budgets

  • Coordinating project priorities, staffing schedules, and staff assignments to ensure clients are provided the best design capabilities to meet their needs

  • Maintaining current knowledge of industry services, projects, and trends

  • Supervising and mentoring staff

  • Hiring, supervising, developing, and evaluating staff, as well as establishing and approving budgets for the group

  • Helping to maintain industry recognition through prominence in regional and national client and professional associations

  • Promoting HNTB's presence and image in the marketplace consistent with the strategic communications plan and corporate objectives

  • Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master's degree in Engineering

  • PE/AICP

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Actively manages assigned project management activities (project scope, schedule, budget and quality management) and performs technical discipline tasks including research, reports, design, specifications and plan preparation.

  • Implements and executes the firm’s Sophisticated Sales Approach, Sophisticated Contracting Approach and Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SSA, SCA, SDA).

  • Responsible for the hiring, supervision, mentoring, professional development, evaluation and termination of department staff members.

  • Coordinates department activities and assigns priorities and staff to projects.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • 16 years relevant experience

  • 4 years supervisory experience
