HNTB Project Manager I - Construction Services in Bellevue, Washington
What We're Looking For
We are currently seeking a Project Manager I in our Seattle, Washington office to continue to grow our Pacific Northwest Construction Services practice. We are looking for candidates with at least 10 years’ experience as an owner’s representative on heavy civil projects including bridge, roadway, transit, and/or rail. Experience working with the Sound Transit, Port of Seattle, City of Seattle, or the Washington State Department of Transportation is highly desirable.
What You'll Do:
Responsible for development of the project scope and fee quotation and assists in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).
Serves as the primary client liaison and manages the project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and to the client’s satisfaction. Assists with client project scoping and contract negotiations.
Performs technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.
Implements the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Leads the development and the execution of the project management plan. Supervises and mentors team to overall project objectives.
Performs coordination with managers on project staffing, including, but not limited to; recruitment, development, retention, and succession of project staff; development of plan for project staff reporting; and support for performance and compensation reviews.
Partners with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for strategic and mini-mega projects in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). Works with the project team and marketing resources to prepare appropriate proposal and presentation materials. Leads proposal development and interview presentations for strategic and mini-mega projects to the client as well as general presentations within the industry and community.
May be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, development, and retention of staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience
2 years task management or Deputy PM experience
What You'll Bring:
Develops relationships with clients such as Sound Transit, Port of Seattle, City of Seattle, City of Bellevue, WSDOT, Microsoft, and BNSF.
Actively manages assigned project management activities (project scope, schedule, budget quality, and contract management) and performs technical discipline tasks including research, reports, design, specifications and plan preparation.
Oversees subconsultant contracts and work performance.
Implements and executes the firm’s Sophisticated Sales Approach, Sophisticated Contracting Approach and Sophisticated Delivery Approach.
Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal preparation and interviewing.
Provides quality control and assists in resolution of construction issues.
Represents HNTB with clients, contractors, public, and regulatory agencies.
Responsible for the hiring, supervision, mentoring, professional development, and evaluation of staff.
Accountability includes meeting project revenue goals, timely and satisfactory completion of construction projects, assuring satisfactory client service, key field position staffing, and related management activities.
Responsible for providing overall field contract administration and coordination on a mega program or mega project of a diverse and complex nature.
Providing technical guidance to team and task leads as well as performing portions of the technical work.
Supervises assigned staff to verify that the Contractor’s activities are monitored and controlled in accordance with design specifications and contractual requirements.
Leveraging the Office Management Team to assist in implementing HNTB Sophisticated processes as applicable to the project.
What We Prefer:
10 years relevant experience
Experience on alternative delivery projects, including GC/CM and/or Design-Build.
Professional Engineer (PE) certification
Project Management Professional (PMP)

The approximate pay range for Washington is $134,911.35 - $211,015.20. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
