HNTB Project Manager - Stormwater in Bellevue, Washington

What We're Looking For

Provides coordination of project execution and control in water resources engineering to achieve continuity of purpose within scope, budget, and time schedules from initial start-up through project closeout. Also accountable for leading, mentoring, and serving as record engineer on design aspects appropriate to discipline field. Coordinates efforts of assigned design team to ensure completeness and accuracy of design effort. Serves as technical liaison with client on project efforts. Responsible for gross revenue of $1-$2M.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for development of the project scope and fee quotation and assists in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).

  • Serves as the primary client liaison and manages the project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and to the client’s satisfaction. Assists with client project scoping and contract negotiations.

  • Performs technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.

  • Implements the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Leads the development and the execution of the project management plan. Supervises and mentors team to overall project objectives.

  • Performs coordination with managers on project staffing, including, but not limited to; recruitment, development, retention, and succession of project staff; development of plan for project staff reporting; and support for performance and compensation reviews.

  • Partners with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for strategic and mini-mega projects in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). Works with the project team and marketing resources to prepare appropriate proposal and presentation materials. Leads proposal development and interview presentations for strategic and mini-mega projects to the client as well as general presentations within the industry and community.

  • May be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, development, and retention of staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience

  • 2 years task management or Deputy PM experience

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Leading stormwater designs according to the client’s design standards (i.e WSDOT HRM and HM, Seattle’s Stormwater Code, KCSWDM, Ecology SWMWW, and requirements for various local jurisdictions)

  • Applying low impact design (green stormwater infrastructure) where feasible

  • Leading technical studies, hydraulic reports, conceptual and final designs, Design-Build contract documents and final designs.

  • Supporting preparation of Design-Build contracts for WSDOT

  • Facilitates and engages in project delivery at all levels as needed

  • Foster team performance and value delivered to the client

  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring staff

  • Supporting client service teams in marketing pursuits

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • PE in State of Washington or ability to obtain professional license in Washington State within one year of employment with HNTB

  • Knowledge of the Seattle, King County, and Washington Department of Ecology regulatory requirements related to stormwater management, and how those requirements vary between jurisdictions.

  • Certification for completing the WSDOT HRM 2019 Training course or ability to obtain within 6 months.

  • Experience designing grading, drainage, and utilities for transportation projects in the Puget Sound region

  • WSDOT highway drainage design experience in Western Washington

  • Sound Transit drainage design experience.

  • Must be able to provide examples of experience designing a variety of stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs).

  • Experienced user of HydroCAD, PondPack, StormCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and/or Microstation InRoads.

  • Experience using WWHM, MGSFlood, HY-8, HEC-RAS and SRH-2D.

  • Experience in the Design-Build projects.

  • Enthusiastic about their work and thrive in a team environment.

  • Experience working with environmental agencies, WDFW/Tribes, especially in Western Washington

  • Certificate holder for WSDOT HRM and Fish Passage Design Training
