HNTB Sr Civil Engineer - Resilient Hydrology in Boston, Massachusetts

What We're Looking For

The time is right to join HNTB! We are currently seeking a Senior Engineer with hydrologic modeling experience, and preferred master’s degree, that is interested in applying that experience to helping our Department of Transportation Clients plan and design roads, bridges, and rail that are resilient to the threats of climate change. Potential candidates will help lead the resiliency practice of our Boston office, while also managing projects, serving as technical lead for the hydrologic design of infrastructure crossings of rivers and streams, performing quality control review of the work of others, and mentoring less experienced staff to support them in their own professional development.

Preferred Qualifications/skills:

  • Interest and ambition to ensure that all HNTB transportation projects are designed and built to both support a sustainable environment and be resilient to the threats of climate change.

  • Experience with hydrology, hydraulics, grading, drainage, and utilities.

  • Familiarity with the regulatory requirements related to stormwater management, and how those requirements vary from state to state.

  • Prefer candidates with both written and plan examples of experience designing a variety of stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs).

  • Seeking an experienced user of HydroCAD, PondPack, StormCAD, HY-8, ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, and XPSWMM.

  • Prefer candidates that have experience presenting projects to local stakeholders during open public hearings.

  • Experience coordinating with contractors to overcome challenges presented by unanticipated conditions encountered during construction.

  • Confidence to speak in large groups with clients, and the self-awareness to know when situations call for active listening instead.

  • We are looking for candidates have a clear vision of their career paths and the empathy needed to mentor and empower others to grow with them.

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the delivery of project discipline scope elements within budget and schedule.

  • Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work. Supervises and guides team to overall project objectives.

  • Provides senior-level technical expertise to client on project aspects within the discipline.

  • Assists with project management duties.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • 10 years relevant experience
