This position can sit out of any of the HNTB office locations listed on the posting and will support our Great Lakes Division team on a variety of projects across the country. Primary Focus of Role:
Conducts transportation noise studies for highway and transit projects and formulates the results into concise, well-written documents.
Attends meetings with clients and responsible agencies and assists with preparation of noise analysis methods and results.
Participates as a subject matter contributor in public involvement activities including discussing noise analysis findings with the public and making presentations at public meetings.
Coordinates with sub-consultants and in-house personnel on a regular basis to complete assigned tasks.
Completes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.
May oversee the work of less experienced staff.
Uses technical software to perform project analysis.
Assists in the preparation of scopes of work, fee proposals and responses to RFPs.
Able to self-sufficiently complete various tasks and duties including but not limited to research, data collection, field investigations, modeling, and reporting of projects.
What You’ll Do:
Analyzes and reviews the design plan and identifies deliverables.
Leads planning processes and technical solutions that best meet the project needs.
Leads tasks under general direction related to compiling and analyzing data associated with multi-disciplines and proposes technical solutions. Collects raw data, organizes, researches, and applies recognized tools of analysis to provide comprehensive review of the data.
Prepares graphics, technical reports, fee proposals, and responses to Request for Proposals for planning projects.
Creates project presentation materials, concepts, graphics, and reports to the client and community groups.
Responsible for significant portions of presentations and public facilitation. Conducts public meetings/hearings/community workshops and interfaces with client groups and community stakeholders.
Coordinates with clients, sub-consultants, and in-house personnel on a regular basis to complete assigned tasks.
Assists in directing teams for tasks for projects.
Mentors and provides direction on the work of less experienced staff.
Assists in the preparation of scopes of work, fee proposals, and responses to RFP’s for projects.
Develops and maintains client meetings and interactions.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need:
Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Environmental Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Engineering, or related field and 6 years of relevant experience, or
Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Environmental Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Engineering, or related field and 5 years of relevant experience
What You’ll Bring:
Operates Microsoft Project and client-specific programs with proficiency and remains current on updates.
Displays knowledge about process and oversees implementation and updates to the schedule, budget, and/or deliverables for the programs. Guides others to complete processes.
Serves as the Task Lead for moderately complexity projects with the ability to contribute to writing scopes and budgets with minimal Project Manager oversight.
Develops an advanced understanding of environmental laws (i.e., NEPA, local, state and federal) and ensures legal compliance. Applies knowledge to more complex documents, provides recommendations to the client, and ensures permits are completed. Oversees and reviews the work of less experienced staff.
Prepares the scope of work, budget, and schedule as part of a task expansion or new proposal with oversight from more experienced staff.
Prepares environmental review documents for more complex transportation projects with guidance from more experienced staff or the Project Manager. Serves as the Task Lead for environmental documents independently. Reviews and oversees the work of less experienced staff.
What We Prefer:
6 years related experience (5 years with Masters degree in related field)
Bachelors degree in Acoustics, Planning, Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field
Experience in highway or transit noise analysis and modeling is required.
Experience in the use of FHWA and FTA noise modeling and related tools, including Traffic Noise Model (TNM), ArcGIS, MicroStation, and transit noise and vibration impact assessment.
Experience analyzing data to perform noise analyses.
Experience with the SoundPLAN, CadnaA, EPA MOVES3 or MOVES2014a (MOVES) and CAL3QHC 2.0 (CAL3QHC) air quality modeling tools is desirable but not required.

The approximate pay range for Washington is $77,044.74 - $138,581.76. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.

The approximate pay range for Colorado is $80,896.98 - $126,531.18. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.
