HNTB Project Director in Dallas, Texas

What We're Looking For

Project leader overseeing the final design delivery, preconstruction, and launch/completion of the overall project. Will serve as lead contact for a large international airport and end users on the assigned projects for overall project delivery and management of the project team. Will have responsibility for the profitable operation of large construction projects typically with a program value exceeding $100MM.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Oversee and direct the performance of all field/office construction activities for assigned projects in conformance with contract documents and cost estimates.

  • Work hand to hand with the Client and stakeholders on contract execution, schedule, recommendations of award, risk assessments, contract issuance, and $ negotiations, with a focus on efficient processes and flow.

  • Serve as the lead point of contact on the assigned projects.

  • Working collaboratively with other agency departments including Communications, Finance, and Administration to plan for, implement, and manage project-related initiatives.

  • Overseeing consultant services including the preparation of requests for proposals; selection of consultants and supervision of consultant work; and ensuring that goals, objectives and elements of the project are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters.

  • Reviewing staff requirements for each phase of the project and arranging for assignment of project personnel.

  • Developing materials and delivering presentations to keep leadership and stakeholders informed.

  • Maintaining effective working relationships with staff and elected officials of regional local governments, and appropriate State and Federal officials.

  • Oversee and support operations training programs and commits to the development of project staff and of self.

  • Advises on new processes and procedures to improve project execution.

  • Sets priorities, secure resources and obtain commitment to work according to the project planned with department managers and section heads.

  • Oversees the Project Managers and as a functional manager, to support with the right resources, competencies and tools that are available.

  • Ensures the achievement of product quality, project targets, budget control and project profitability over the project portfolio.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master’s degree

  • 20 years relevant experience

  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification

  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)

  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM)

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develops and nurtures key client relationships and is the primary company contact on assigned projects. Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies.

  • Responsible for financial performance on projects. Proactive management of cash, budget, schedule and project scope to ensure adherence to project goals and completion to the client's satisfaction.

  • Sets priorities, obtains commitments, and engages required resources through collaboration with Group Directors, Department Managers and/or Section Managers to staff projects according to the project Work Plan.

  • Collaborates with office and division leadership in solving challenges and ensuring business objectives are met.

  • Supervises and mentors’ team to achieve overall project objectives. Where appropriate, oversees the project's Project Manager(s). Responsible for/oversees project staffing, including, but not limited to; recruitment, hiring, development, retention and succession of project staff; development of plan for project staff reporting; and support for performance and compensation reviews.

  • Leads pursuits of mega projects and/or actively involved as part of the pursuit team for super mega projects. Partners with Client Service Leaders to develop long term strategies to identify and pursue additional business opportunities with key clients and with pursuit champions on efforts for mega and super mega projects in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). Works with the pursuit team and marketing resources to prepare appropriate proposal and presentation materials. Leads interview and proposal presentations to the client as well as general presentations within the industry.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and 12 years of relevant experience

  • 4 years experience successfully managing and delivering mega and/or super mega projects
