The Michigan Planning team is seeking a team leader for GIS to deliver on projects with the most effective use of GIS technology to improve the planning and design process. This supervisory position will include both GIS and planning responsibilities, including but not limited to the implementation of GIS on projects, strategic planning, coordination with clients and sub-consultants, and research of concepts pertaining to planning and plan development for transportation and infrastructure projects.
What You’ll Do:
Advises as an expert resource, provides technical guidance to others.
Provides input in marketing strategies, including capabilities within the team, processes and methodologies used, etc.
Provides project coordination along with PM on projects with GIS needs, including assigning workloads, estimating hours, defining milestones and quality assurance.
Creates final media projects including CD-ROMs, hardcopy maps, and documentation.
Develops key relationships with industry sector leaders within the company.
Investigates and learns new technologies, especially in the GIS industry.
Recruits, hires, develops and retains staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession. Coordinates schedules and approves timecards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Geography, Planning or related field and 6 years related experience using ESRI, Intergraph, or Bentley software products, or
In lieu of degree, 10 years of relevant experience
What We Prefer:
Supervisory and task leadership experience
Master's degree in GIS, Urban Planning or related field
Experience in the transportation and infrastructure sector
