HNTB Inspector II in Houston, Texas
What We're Looking For
Responsible for providing daily inspection of multiple, routine activities within a given discipline/trade/project performed by contractor in order to monitor the project’s compliance with plans, specifications, and other contract provisions. Maintains daily logs of inspection work which is assigned and reviews discrepancies or changes with construction manager.
Primary Focus Will Include:
Provide inspections of subdivision drainage projects under the direction of a construction manager.
Follow Harris County rules and procedures for the inspection of public works projects.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Understanding of Harris County inspection process and procedures
Basic computer knowledge and skills
This position may be funded with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funds, which are subject to compliance with Section 3. Section 3 is a provision of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968 (24 CFR 135.5), and in accordance with those regulations, new job opportunities generated by HUD funding must be directed toward low and very-low income persons to the greatest extent feasible.

What You'll Need
Observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with contract documents and plans. Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.
Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform standard mathematical calculations and measurements of completed work to date.
Maintains Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contactor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.
Performs on-site material testing and produces as-constructed sketches as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
3 years construction related experience.
All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements.
