HNTB Sr. Civil Modeling Specialist in Indianapolis, Indiana

What We're Looking For

The Sr. Civil Modeling Specialist will work with a team of lead technology specialists within HNTB that focus heavily on the advancement of BIM for design, construction and operations/maintenance for both Vertical and Horizontal project types. As part of this team, the Sr. Civil Modeling Specialist’s primary duty is to advance the use of BIM for HNTB’s Civil Engineering services and deliverables. This position requires the ability to work with other Technologists within the team to develop, implement, train and support BIM for Civil, while leading BIM for Civil efforts as needed to support projects of medium to large scope.

Primary Focus Will Include:

Serves as the technical lead in the development and implementation of BIM for Civil technologies for all phases of a project (design, construction and operations/maintenance).

Has proven experience producing, leading and managing BIM for Civil services on complex civil infrastructure projects.

Assist project teams, as needed to ensure successful planning and execution of BIM for Civil on their projects. This includes BIM Execution Plan Development, BIM Management, BIM Production, Training and Support throughout all phases for projects of both medium and large scope.

Assist HNTB clients in determining BIM for Civil technology solutions that best meet their immediate and long-term needs. Meets with client and technology staff, as needed to define and document system requirements. Develops system configuration specifications, conceptual and logical workflow and business process diagrams for system development or customization.

Recommends enhancements or changes to HNTB technology, methodology and process standards. Interactively and incrementally improves HNTB deliverables and processes.

Is knowledgeable of and follows industry trends to ensure BIM for Civil technology efforts align with current and future needs of our clients, as well as within our HNTB project teams.

Assists in the development of BIM for Civil project scopes, fees and proposals.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience with the following BIM for Civil applications listed below is required:

  • Autodesk Civil 3D (3D Design & Analysis)

  • Autodesk Infraworks

  • Autodesk Navisworks Manage (Model Review, Clash Detection and 4D Timeliner)

Experience with the additional applications listed below is favored:

  • Autodesk Recap Pro

  • Autodesk BIM 360

  • Bentley Microstation (OpenRoads, OpenRail, OpenBridge)

Assist 3D Visualizations teams as needed to develop BIM for Civil workflows & processes for the creation of 3D Renderings, Animations, Augmented, Virtual and Mixed reality deliverables throughout all phases of the project.

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develops or customizes complex geospatial applications using comprehensive geospatial knowledge, project requirements and an understanding of client needs.

  • Assists client in determining survey and mapping needs and the most effective collection methods and technologies to meet those needs. Meets with client and technology staff to define and document system requirements. Develops system configuration specifications, conceptual and logical workflow and business process diagrams for system development or customization.

  • Creates and executes moderately complex system implementations according to established timeline, budget and quality expectations.

  • Leads projects of medium to large scope. Assists in the development of project scope, fees and proposals.

  • Serves as a technical resource in the application of one or more geospatial platform technologies, such as Esri, Bentley, Autodesk, and Certainty 3D. Provides user support and solves moderately complex technical problems with geospatial systems.

  • Codes, tests, debugs and configures solutions at a moderate difficulty level. May perform peer reviews on work performed by junior staff. Thoroughly documents and tests all work produced.

  • Recommends enhancements or changes to technology, methodology and process standards. Interactively and incrementally improves both products and processes.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Geography or other related degree

  • 5 years related experience

  • In lieu of education, 9 years related experience
