HNTB Accounting Manager in Kansas City, Missouri

What We're Looking For

Responsible for managing the general accounting and monthly financial reporting function of the firm. Responsible for ensuring the firm’s financial accounting system and reporting standards meet Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (GAAP) and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) standards as considered applicable to HNTB as non-public entity. Manages the timing, preparation and delivery of the annual financial statement audit. Maintains relationships with other internal departments and is responsible for identification resolution of accounting issues that arise.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Manages day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, GL and transactional accounting for over 60 local office cost centers within 7 operating divisions.

  • Revenue Recognition and Reporting in accordance with GAAP.

  • Producing accurate and timely internal and external financial reporting.

  • Manages a staff of 4, includes ongoing coaching, mentoring and annual performance evaluation

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master's degree in Business

  • 7 - 10 years accounting experience

  • Supervisory experience

  • CPA

  • Able to operate in a fast-paced organization and handle multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience

  • Strong leadership skills



What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversees, manages, coaches and develops the accounting team.

  • Responsible for the monthly financial close and reporting process.

  • Ensures for compliance with accounting and reporting standards.

  • Assesses and proposes changes to ensure adequate internal controls are in place.

  • Oversees external financial audit reports and provides information as needed to support disclosures.

  • Oversees the preparation of consolidated financial reporting to the CFO.

  • Prepares other ad hoc reporting as requested.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

  • 7 years accounting experience

  • 3 years supervisory experience
