HNTB Design Build Sr. Project Manager – Technology and Integration in Kansas City, Missouri

What We're Looking For

Working with Design-Build leadership teams, apply senior-level technical expertise to our pursuit and project teams, nationwide. This individual will lead teams in developing integrated design deliverables on multi-discipline transportation engineering projects using the latest design and collaboration software platforms. Participate in firm-wide forums to carry best practices and lessons learned to subsequent projects.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Advise and oversee project teams on design integration and automated production throughout the US, engaged in delivering complex transportation engineering design-build projects with construct values of $100M to $2.5B in construction costs.

  • Support the implementation of new delivery software and technologies across all disciplines.

  • Professional development of direct reports and supported staff in maximizing the use of engineering design platforms.

  • Coordinate with Corporate Delivery Technology to communicate project requirements, train staff on new design applications/techniques and support specific project needs.

  • Implementation of Bentley, Civil 3D, Bluebeam and other related civil engineering delivery technology software in project delivery.

  • Working knowledge of BIM and other architectural modeling packages. Working knowledge of various bridge design packages for foundation and superstructure design development and solution.

  • Ensure the smooth implementation and operational of delivery technology applications (mentioned above) on Design Build projects throughout the US.

  • Mentor and develop engineering skills of junior engineering staff.

  • Travel 50%Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering

  • 15+ years of progressively responsible experience and a Professional Engineer license

  • Design Build project leadership experience on major highway, bridge, airport or transit projects

  • Experience with Bentley and/or AutoCAD design products including Bentley InRoads, Open Roads, Open Roads Designer, Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project

  • Ability to progress multiple tasks at the same time on accelerated schedules

  • Strong communication skills including written technical reports and oral presentations

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for development of the project scope and fee quotation and assists in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).

  • Serves as the primary client liaison and manages the project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and to the client’s satisfaction. Leads client contract scoping and negotiations.

  • Performs technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.

  • Implements the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Leads the development and the execution of the project management plan. Supervises and mentors team to overall project objectives.

  • Responsible for/oversees project staffing, including, but not limited to; recruitment, development, retention and succession of project staff; development of plan for project staff reporting; and support for performance and compensation reviews.

  • Partners with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for mega and super mega projects in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). Works with the project team and marketing resources to prepare appropriate proposal and presentation materials. Leads proposal development and interview presentations for strategic, mini-mega or mega projects to the client as well as general presentations within the industry and community.

  • May be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, development and retention of staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 12 years of relevant experience

  • 4 years of successful management of engineering projects
