HNTB Project Engineer - Electrical/Lighting in Kansas City, Missouri
What We're Looking For
We are looking for the right candidate to join our Electrical Section in Kansas City as a Project Engineer. This role provides exciting opportunities to design electrical systems for a variety of clients on highway, bridge, transit and airport projects.
Primary Focus Will Include:
Electrical Engineering for Civil Transportation projects.
Work independently to complete electrical designs with minimal direction.
Design low voltage power distribution systems, street lighting, traffic signals, area lighting, pedestrian lighting, aesthetic lighting and other electrical systems.
Design power distribution and control systems for Movable Bridges.
Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
Prepare electrical engineering designs that are responsive to project needs.
Help to supervise, schedule and perform quality control duties of project team members.
Responsible for productivity of subordinates to achieve on time and on budget projects.
Conduct design and constructability reviews of plans.
Assists Senior Engineers and Project Managers with preparation of weekly and monthly program updates and reporting.
Assists Senior Engineers and Project Managers with management of design review process and permitting through outside agencies.
Coordinate with contractor, construction engineers, other consulting engineers, and utility personnel.
Conduct reviews and make recommendations of approval of potential construction change orders, shop drawings and change orders.
Cost control on projects and quality control within discipline
Planning, design and construction phases of projects
Completeness and accuracy of design team work
Technical liaison with client for work within the discipline
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering
Experience with Roadway and Highway Lighting
Experience with AGI32 Lighting Software
Experience with completing Plans, Specifications and Estimate construction packages for Municipal and DOT clients.
What You'll Need
Responsible for the delivery of project discipline scope elements within budget and schedule.
Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work. Guides team to overall project objectives.
Serves as technical liaison with client at staff level for work within the discipline.
Assists with project management duties.
Performs other duties as assigned.
