The candidate will be working within HNTB’s Digital Transformation Solutions Group as a part of the Virtual Design and Construction team that focus heavily on the advancement of VDC and BIM for design, construction, and operations/maintenance for both Vertical and Horizontal project types. As part of this team, the VDC Team Leader’s primary duty is to advance the use of VDC and BIM for HNTB’s Civil Engineering services and deliverables. This position requires the ability to work with other Technologists within the team to develop, implement, train and support VDC and BIM for Civil and Architectural, while leading VDC and BIM for Civil and Architectural efforts as needed to support projects of medium to large scope.

This opportunity entails overseeing technical and operational supervision to a section of information technology professionals providing technology services to HNTB clients. The Technology Section Manager ensures the technical, administrative, direct labor and schedule targets in the section are met.

What You’ll Do:

• Provides technical and operational supervision to a section of technology professionals.

• Ensures that the technical, administrative, direct labor and schedule targets for the section are met. Manages budgets for projects or section within the organization.

• Responsible for revenue generation and HNTB’s 4 for 4 (Consistent delivery of quality work, on time, on budget, and to the client’s satisfaction on every project) delivery for projects for the section.

• Builds strong client relationships with new and existing clients, leveraging those relationships to generate opportunities for new work.

• Develops, reviews and approves scope and fee estimates for work performed by the group.

• Establishes schedules, assigning tasks to employees, and making sure that projects are completed on time.

• Manages assigned project management activities (project scope, schedule, budget and quality management) and performs technical discipline tasks. Meets with clients to discuss project requirements and timelines.

• Coordinates with other departments to ensure that projects meet 4 for 4.

• Handles complaints from clients or employees and resolving issues using conflict resolution techniques.

• Recruits, hires, develops and retains section staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and 8 years of relevant experience, or

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and 7 years of relevant experience, or

• In lieu of education, 12 years of relevant experience.

Additional Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions will include:

• Responsible for balancing work load and work load projections across the entire team.

• Will provide guidance for each team member in career development and career progression opportunities.

• Serves as the VDC team leader responsible for managing and leading a diverse and talented group of experts.

• Sales: participate and or lead VDC related project pursuits.

• Proven ability to sustainably grow a team through successful project delivery and by identifying new opportunities and areas for growth within the AEC market.

• Is knowledgeable of and follows industry trends to ensure VDC and BIM for horizontal and vertical technology efforts align with current and future needs of our clients, as well as within our HNTB project teams.

• Assists in the development of VDC and BIM for horizontal and vertical project scopes, fees and proposals.

• Experience with the following design applications listed below is required:

• Autodesk Civil 3D (3D Design & Analysis)

• Autodesk Infraworks

• Autodesk BIM 360

• Autodesk Navisworks Manage (Model Review, Clash Detection and 4D Timeliner)

• Experience with the additional applications listed below is favored:

• Autodesk Recap Pro

• Autodesk Revit

• Autodesk Forge

• Autodesk Inventor

• Bentley Microstation (OpenRoads, OpenRail, OpenBridge, iTwin)

• Epic (UnReal Enging, TwinMotion)

What We Prefer:

• ​ Master’s degree or higher in project management or related technical field.
