HNTB Senior Project Director in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania

What We're Looking For

The time is right to join HNTB! The person selected will be responsible for the profitable operation of large, mega projects.

We are looking for a collaborative leader who will be responsible for developing strategies to track, win and deliver large transportation projects in Pennsylvania. This person will work with Office Leadership, Client Service Leaders and Department Managers to develop and successfully implement these strategies that will lead to profitable growth with clients like PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Lead the identification of large transportation project opportunities within Pennsylvania and develop/implement strategic plan to win projects in support of the office sales goals.

  • Act as Project Manager on large transportation projects managing scope, schedule, staffing, and budget.

  • Lead multi-disciplined staff on large transportation projects in multiple offices.

  • Work to enhance communication, coordination, and cooperation of project team to work as a cohesive unit from multiple offices.

  • Coordinate tasks among the multidisciplinary project teams to conduct analyses, develop design solutions, and lead the preparations of design drawings, calculations, and specifications for large transportation projects.

  • Ensure quality work is being developed within project team and work with staff to perform necessary technical reviews and quality assurance.

  • Provide technical mentorship and development to staff.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering

  • PE

  • Experience managing projects for PennDOT and/or Pennsylvania Turnpike

  • Excellent oral and written communication and negotiation skills

  • Ability to interface with client as firm representative

What You’ll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of the project including negotiating extras, cost control, staffing, quality control and cash management.

  • Implements HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach on each project.

  • Actively involved in leading pursuits of super mega projects (greater than $25 million) .

  • Develops and nurtures key client relationships and is the primary company contact on the project.

  • Sought out by clients to identify innovative solutions to complex projects.

  • Estimates fees, determines scope of work, and prepares proposals and contracts on large or multiple projects.

  • Actively manages client’s budget, schedule, and program; HNTB budget and schedule; project communications and documentation.

  • Coordinates work efforts and reviews work performed.

  • Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering

  • 20 years of experience

  • 6 years experience successfully managing and delivering large transportation projects

  • Has full managerial responsibility for all aspects of the project including negotiating extras, cost control, staffing, quality control and cash management.

  • Develops and nurtures key client relationships and is the primary company contact on the project.

  • Estimates fees, determines scope of work, and prepares proposals and contracts on large or multiple projects.

  • Actively manages client’s budget, schedule and program; HNTB budget and schedule; project communications and documentation.

  • Satisfies client requirements.

  • Coordinates work efforts and reviews work performed.

  • Responsible for managing and delivering quality mega projects on-time, within budget and to the satisfaction of the client.

  • Identifies and markets additional business opportunities with key clients.

  • Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • 16 years engineering experience, including directing large mega projects
