The time is right to join HNTB! We are seeking candidates for the position of ITS and CAV Engineer in either of our Jacksonville, FL or Lake Mary, FL offices.
Within a given discipline, is fully competent to complete engineering-related tasks including research, development, calculations, design and delivery with minimal direction. On tasks basis, is responsible for preparation and completion of discipline engineering efforts that are responsive to project needs. Coordinates preparation of design details, plans, and drawings within assigned task areas.
Responsible for completion of discipline engineering project elements such as reports, designs, specifications and plans.
Responsible for coordination and productivity of subordinates. Provides technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
Works closely with other disciplines and multi-discipline projects.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Coordinate, manage and review the development of conceptual, preliminary and final electrical designs on communication systems projects.
Perform system technical design of various communications systems including WiFi, networking, CCTV, Access Control, PA, SCADA, public information displays, telephone, radio.
Perform field investigations and inspection and evaluate existing conditions on communications and security systems, including communicating design requirements with contractors and equipment suppliers.
Prepare systems engineering plans, concepts of operations and apply the systems engineering process
Conduct feasibility studies and systems engineering for Connected and Automated vehicle technology experience
Experience with information technology, database and analytics systems experience (design and/or implementation)
Ability to communicate (write/speak) effectively
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
5 years relevant experience
Master's degree in Engineering
Closed Circuit Television Camera systems and video analytics
Detection Systems (Video, Microwave, LiDAR and others)
ITS Planning and Modeling
System Engineering Tools for Intelligent Transportation
Traffic Management Systems
Certifications and Training Preferred around:
Specifications Package development
National ITS Architecture
ITS Deployment Analysis Systems
National Incident Management Systems
General Work Conditions
Combination Office and Field Environment: Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client’s job site, construction trailer, and in the field. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.
