HNTB Design Build BIM/VDC Specialist II in Los Angeles, California

HNTB's Design Build Organization is seeking a talented and motivated BIM/VDC specialist at an intermediate level to join our dynamic team. This role is tailored for professionals who have a solid foundation in Civil Engineering, coupled with experience in Building Information Modeling (BIM) management and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC). In this role, you will be advancing beyond foundational applications of BIM and VDC technologies, taking on more complex tasks and responsibilities on mega and super mega design build projects.

The specialist will focus on effectively implementing BIM and VDC strategies, managing specific aspects of large-scale design build projects, and contributing to the innovative application of technology in our processes. Key focus areas include developing 3D design models, facilitating the creation of 2D contract documents, supporting the administration of common data environments (CDE’s), configuring BIM software, creating BIM content libraries, and leading clash detection and other quality control processes. This role demands an individual who can balance technical proficiency with project management skills, ensuring that BIM and VDC techniques are optimally integrated into our project workflows to enhance efficiency and quality. This position requires strong skills using Bentley software.

What You’ll Do:

  • Utilized as technical resource in project meetings and project design for area of specialty.

  • Researches best practices and maintains outside contact with other specialists.Acts as an internal and external point-of-contact for specialty area(s). May train others in related subject matter.

  • Prepares technical presentations, reports and analysis in area of specialty.

  • Fluent in the HNTB project management philosophy and may be responsible for project budgets, schedules and progress reporting at a task level.

  • Interacts regularly with clients at the staff level.

  • May perform technical reviews for other projects in area of specialty.

  • May be responsible for managing a project team in area of specialty and coordinating work with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need:

  • Associate of Science or Technical School

  • 10 years related experience

  • In lieu of education, 12 years related experience

What We Prefer:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. A degree in Physics, Computer Science or related discipline are also acceptable.

  • With Bachelors degree, 8 years related experience

  • Demonstrated experience administrating Bentley Projectwise

  • Skilled in the use of one or more of the following: Microstation (v8i and CE), InRoads SS2, Bentley Track, OpenRoads Designer, Open Rail Designer, Open Bridge Designer, Concept Station.

  • Autodesk Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks and/or Infraworks skills are a plus

  • Understands the goals and needs of project teams
