HNTB Engineer II Civil - Downtown Los Angeles in Los Angeles, California

What We're Looking For

Assists assigned department by performing engineering-related tasks including research, development, calculations, design and delivery on assigned project(s).

The time is right to join HNTB Corporation! HNTB is currently seeking candidates for an Engineer II Civil position in our Downtown Los Angeles, CA office. The Los Angeles region is embarking on transportation projects to improve the roads and rail throughout the county. Be a part of the solution to LA’s transportation challenges.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Contributes to the preparation or modification of reports, plans and designs for transportation projects including roadways, highways and rail projects. Prepares CAD plans and technical calculations for preliminary and final design.

  • Conduct investigative analyses toward completion of assigned design tasks, and prepare design drawings.

  • Perform calculations to support design and confirm compliance with design criteria.

  • Organize scheduling of specific tasks and assignments.

  • Designs horizontal geometry and vertical grades for roadways or rail.

  • Prepares meeting materials and meeting minutes.

  • Communicates with other team members and disciplines regarding the design.

  • Performs calculations to support the design such as drainage areas and slopes.

  • Coordinates utility work affected by design.

  • Designs utility relocations.

  • Participate in collection and analysis of data and preparation of satisfactory designs.

  • Provide some direction to drafting personnel in preparing design drawings.

  • Assists in the preparation of project quantity and cost estimates.

  • Use of excel spreadsheets for calculations and data management.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor Degrees in Civil Engineering

  • Skilled with MicroStation and/or AutoCad for drawing production

  • 2 year relevant experience

  • EIT

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • 2 years relevant experience
