This opportunity entails being responsible for developing, proactively managing the implementation, and ensuring project team adherence to the design quality management plan in strict accordance with contractual requirements and HNTB Standards of Performance for Design fees exceeding $50MM. Utilizes expertise to improve quality, consistency, and profitability on sophisticated, high-risk, Advantage projects
What You'll Do:
In collaboration with the Project Manager (PM), develop, proactively manage the implementation, and ensure project team adherence to the design quality procedures and plan in strict accordance with contractual requirements, HNTB’s Sophisticated Win Plan for DB Projects, Manual of Professional Practice (MPP) and HNTB Standards of Performance
Serve as subject matter expert to project teams in development of quality procedures and plan. Leverages EDT Quality Director expertise as required for development and implementation
Monitor and ensure adherence by HNTB project staff and subconsultant to design quality procedure and plan requirements for the production, submittal and approval of contract deliverables within contract schedules and budgets
This work can be in the pre- and post-award and post-design construction phases of the project
Works with other DPMs, PM, Advantage Chief Engineer, Advantage Delivery Center, EDT Staff and Advantage Design Integration Group to ensure implementation of Advantage technologies and effective cost-efficient delivery approaches
Identify and assess actual and potential problem areas in design quality implementation/adherence and lead efforts to formulate and execute recovery plans to achieve 4for4
Participate in monthly (minimum) Project Reviews at the direction and discretion of the PM
Participate in development, in collaboration with the PM, Advantage Director and Advantage Resource Officer, of a project team that encompasses all the necessary firm wide resources and technical capabilities of HNTB for project delivery that maximizes efficiency and 4for4 performance
Deliver quality training
Identify and implement opportunities for improvement
Report on and provide recommendations to leadership regarding the performance of the quality management system
What You'll Need:
Must have at least 15 years of experience, with at least 8 years in a Design/Technical Quality position
Must have experience working on project with design fees exceeding $50MM
Design-build (DB) delivery experience required
Superior communication skills required
Superior interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, managers, officers, sub-consultants and technical staff
What We Prefer:
- Experience administering a Caltrans quality program.

The approximate pay range for California is $152,983.53 - $277,700.33. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
