HNTB Associate Director, Collaborative Contracting in Miami, Florida

This position will support the national Advisory group in bringing commercial-technical expertise focused on innovative delivery projects (e.g., DBFOM, DBFM, DBF, DB, progressive DB, CMGC/CMAR, progressive P3), and within the wider firm to support our public sector clients in the structuring and delivery of such projects. In particular, this position will focus on project delivery in the area of collaborative contracting (i.e., progressive DB, CMGC/CMAR and progressive P3), including:

  • Project structuring and delivery options analysis

  • Procurement process, documents and third party agreements/policies and guidance documents

  • Solicitation documents and all necessary commercial and technical exhibits

  • Managing cost, risk and commercial terms through all phases of the collaborative contracting delivery process

  • Supporting clients to achieve successful conclusion of price and schedule negotiations

  • Reviewing interim price, schedule and risk submittals from contractors and supporting negotiations leading to establishment of firm price and schedule

  • Developing and implementing systems and processes to monitor trends and track value through the preconstruction phase of collaborative contracts

What You'll Do:

  • Applies commercial expertise and guidance on project structures, risk allocation, delivery options and contract terms for innovative delivery contracts. Coordinates commercial considerations across all disciplines within programs.

  • Develops and implements procurement documentation and strategies.

  • Engages with industry participants to define and optimize commercial structures and provisions.

  • Acts as subject matter expert to provide strategic advice and analysis, and engage in marketing and business development, as well as preparing reports and presentations to HNTB leadership and senior client personnel.

  • Assists with the successful contracting and execution of projects, working closely with regional HNTB staff and office leadership. Supports tasks and major workstreams, interfaces with senior Advisory and client leadership to ensure 4for4 delivery while managing client relationships and day to day interactions with appropriate counterparts.

  • Prepares technical materials for client engagements, including strategic analyses, commercial documentation, technical provisions, procurement documents, and other materials pertaining to applicable subject matter focus.

  • Trains and instructs line personnel on innovative delivery and other Advisory disciplines. Advises on business planning and supports marketing efforts of the line organization.

  • Works with the line organization in a senior support role on strategically important client and project pursuits, providing strategic input and market knowledge to expand service offerings and enhance win probabilities.

  • Mentors and oversees the work of junior Advisory staff through performance management and encouragement of professional development opportunities.

  • Contributes to strategic planning for Advisory and assists with thought leadership initiatives.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field and 10 years of relevant experience.

  • Master's degree in relevant field and 8 years of relevant experience.

  • PhD/JD in relevant field and 6 years of relevant experience.

What We Prefer:

  • Majority of work experience in a directly relevant role, including as a consultant leading advisory engagements; experience as a contractor or developer a plus

  • Experience across a range of collaborative contracting models, and experience in using these models in multiple jurisdictions; international experience a plus

  • Specialized knowledge and strong experience in the relevant practice group (EOR, ID, PM or ST) – i.e., these are senior SMEs

  • Broad knowledge of the infrastructure industry, key players, policies, existing programs, and precedent transactions

  • Strong professional connections across the infra industry, well known and respected by industry peers, active in industry organizations

  • Excellent communications, writing, quantitative skills

  • Professional demeanor, able to independently interface with senior client leaders

  • Strategic thinker, able to see the broader picture beyond their assigned role and identify and advance opportunities to enhance service offerings

  • Possesses subject matter expertise (legal, financial, commercial, technical)

  • Deep understanding of consulting business and key value drivers for HNTB

The approximate pay range for New York is $166,888.05 - $333,234.26. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
