HNTB MEP CAD Technician in Miami, Florida

This opportunity entails being responsible for performing non-routine and complex assignments at an advanced proficiency level, involving responsibility for planning and conducting complete projects of varied scope. Assists the project management team in completing objectives, following CAD requirements, and standardizing design approaches. Responsible for implementing engineering or operational data from a variety of sources. Leverages technical knowledge and experience to assist in the execution of design tasks for clients such as MDAD, DTPW and GDOT. Assists in preparation and completion of engineering efforts for project deliverables.
May mentor, train and review work of junior CAD staff and provide constructive feedback. As a member of the team, you will contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB’s clients.
What You’ll Do:
Responsible for the organization of design/production related files.
Responsible for verifying the accuracy of drawings and compatibility of work across disciplines.
Assists the engineer in outlining objectives, requirements and design approaches.
Attends project and pre-construction meetings and provides input to ensure proper policies, procedures, and specifications are followed. Prepares electronic files for use in meetings and facilitates their display.
Calculates quantities and performs engineering related computations.
Provides training and mentoring to earlier career technicians.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or related field and 3 years of relevant experience, or
Associate of Science in Drafting or Technical School or related and 5 years of relevant experience, or
In lieu education, 7 years of relevant experience
What You'll Bring:
Professional working proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
Understanding of design and construction phases and processes related to A/E services.
Ability to independently draft plans and engineering design details and compile engineering plan sets based off engineer markups.
Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure accuracy and adherence to project specifications.
Working knowledge in the terminology and symbols used in construction documents, details, and shop drawings.
Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve technical common CAD issues.
Ability to interpret and create detailed drawings, specifications, and design documents.
Maintain organized and up-to-date project files and documentation.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Meticulous quality control/review skills.
What We Prefer:
Experienced in drafting all typical MEP systems, i.e., HVAC, LTHW, BCWS, LV distribution, life safety systems, M&E Plant rooms etc.
Experience in the transportation and/or commercial industries.
Good understanding of construction process and associated MEP services.
Able to comply and maintain company’s Revit / CAD standards and workflows.
