HNTB Director, Advisory (Collaborative Contracting) in New York, New York

This position will support the national Advisory group in the management and development of commercial-technical expertise focused on innovative delivery projects (e.g., DBFOM, DBFM, DBF, DB, progressive DB, CMGC/CMAR, progressive P3), and within the wider firm to support our public sector clients in the structuring and delivery of such projects.
In particular, this position will involve a focus on development of the Advisory group's capabilities and project delivery in the area of collaborative contracting (i.e., progressive DB, CMGC/CMAR and progressive P3), including:
-Team development and resource allocation
-Best practices, knowledge sharing and training nationwide
-Project structuring and delivery options analysis
-Procurement process, documents and third party agreements
-Supporting clients across all phases of the collaborative delivery process - including finalization of key commercial terms, pricing, schedule and, if needed, off ramp situations
This position partners with senior Advisory team members to develop and promote subject matter expertise and best practices.
What You'll Do:
Applies technical expertise and guidance to project structuring, delivery options analysis and commercial and technical provisions of procurement documents, with a focus on innovative delivery. Advises on technical elements on complex projects across all phases of the project life cycle.
Acts as subject matter expert to provide strategic advice and analysis, and engage in marketing and business development, as well as preparing reports and presentations to HNTB leadership and senior client personnel.
Manages tasks or major workstreams independently, and interfaces with senior Advisory and client leadership to ensure 4for4 delivery while managing client relationships and day to day interactions with appropriate counterparts. Responsible for successful contracting and project execution, working closely with regional HNTB staff and office leadership.
Prepares technical materials for client engagements, including strategic analyses, commercial documentation, technical provisions, procurement documents, and other materials pertaining to applicable subject matter focus.
Trains and instructs line personnel on innovative delivery and other Advisory disciplines. Advises on business planning and supports marketing efforts of the line organization.
Works with the line organization in a lead support role on strategically important client and project pursuits, providing strategic input and market knowledge to expand service offerings and enhance win probabilities.
Contributes to strategic planning for Advisory and assists with thought leadership initiatives.
Mentors and oversees the work of junior Advisory staff through performance management and encouragement of professional development opportunities.
Represents Advisory and the firm at industry events and organizations, and drives thought leadership and external positioning efforts.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field and 12 years of relevant experience.
Master's degree in relevant field and 10 years of relevant experience.
PhD/JD in relevant field and 8 years of relevant experience.
What We Prefer:
Core skills and experience in one or more technical engineering, planning or project control disciplines
Experience in collaborative contracting, including progressive design build, CMAR / CMGC or progressive P3s
Ability to develop industry best practice solicitation documents that achieve an owner’s goals
Ability to analyze appropriate delivery methods for complex projects and determine project packaging, phasing and risk allocation, with a focus on innovative delivery projects
Experience in a multi-disciplinary environment with legal and financial advisors
Understanding of the commercial principles underpinning innovative delivery
Experience in the management and oversight of programs and projects using innovative delivery
Broad knowledge of the infrastructure industry, key players, policies, existing programs, and precedent transactions
Excellent communications and writing skills
Professional demeanor, able to independently interface with senior client leaders
Strategic thinker, able to see the broader picture beyond their assigned role and identify and advance opportunities to enhance service offerings

The approximate pay range for New York City and Westchester County, NY is $240,340.34 - $399,916.97. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
