Come join the HNTB team! We are excited to be working on some of the most interesting transportation projects in the Bay Area, including High Speed Rail and BART to San Jose. We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Transit Architect in our Oakland, CA office, with a special focus on station architecture and station area planning.
Oversees and develops technical solutions for medium to large sized transportation, urban design and landscape architecture projects to ensure that the client’s technical requirements are fully met. May serve as a Project Manager on a limited basis for select medium scale projects. Regular task assignee on multiple projects.
With a thorough knowledge of landscape architecture and/or urban design, understands the design applications of construction materials, plan materials, construction methods and the integration of landscape architecture and urban design with other disciplines.
Proactively assists or oversees other project team members in development of solutions for medium to large scale projects.
Interfaces with client group and community stakeholders.
Identifies and recommends appropriate technical procedures that should be used on a project.
Prepares design documents, technical plans, written reports on medium to large sized projects.
Articulates project design in written, verbal and graphic form.
Conducts site visits to review implementation of project.
Responsible for significant portions of presentations and public facilitation.
Prepares scopes of work, fee proposals and responses to RFP’s for large scale projects.
Assists in the preparation for training programs that focus on design excellence and delivering HNTB's 4 for 4 (Consistent delivery of quality work, on time, on budget and to the client's satisfaction on every project) performance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or related field
8 years related experience
6 years related experience (with Master's degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or related field)
Experience in design of Transit Stations
Knowledge of Station Area Planning
Knowledge of station architecture
RLA, RA certification
General Work Conditions
Office Environment: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently, and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use.
