HNTB Assistant Team Leader Bridge Inspection in Parsippany, New Jersey
What We're Looking For
Responsible for assisting in the production and modification of bridge inspection reports and CADD drawings. This position performs research, development, calculations, design and delivery in partnership with the project team. Applies engineering techniques, procedures and design criteria for projects ranging in size and complexity. Leverages technical knowledge and experience to assist in the execution and evaluation of project designs. Develops conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support the project execution using current drawing and technical tools, programs and software. As a member of the team, you will contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB’s clients.
Primary Focus Will Include:
Performing bridge inspections as an Assistant Team Leader under direct supervision of a Team Leader
Report preparation based on bridge inspections for various clients mostly involving the PANY&NJ, NYSDOT, NJDOT and NJ Transit
Perform various bridge inspection activities including scheduling, drafting and database management
Develop and review National Bridge Element quantities based on bridge inspection findings
Assist with preparation of PANY&NJ condition survey drawings
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Having at least 3 years experience in bridge inspection services
Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
Knowledgeable in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
Plans to pursue a PE licensure in the states of NJ and/or NY
Bridge inspection experience with local agencies such as PANY&NJ, NJ Transit, NJTA and/or NJDOT
Successful completion of FHWA National Institute's 2 week training course "Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges" including 5 year refresher training as needed.
Experience with load ratings using software packages such as AASHTOWare's Bridge Rating (BrR), CSi Bridge, etc., and Combis, AssetWiseand/or BDIS database packages
Physically capable of performing continuous field work including working at heights, within confined spaces, using specialized bridge inspection access equipment, carrying ladders and gear, working in adverse weather conditions, and working alongside highways and/or railroads using traffic and railroad flagging protection services as needed, etc.
OSHA 10 hour certification

Essential Responsibilities:
Completes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.
Responsible for preparation and/or modification for select portions of project reports, plans, designs, and calculations.
Develops project quantities and assists with development of cost estimates.
Assists engineering teams with organization and administrative support of design files.
Able to self-sufficiently complete various tasks and duties including but not limited to research, data collection, field investigations, development, and design of projects.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience
Master’s degree in Engineering and 1 year of relevant experience
