HNTB Data Engineer II - Transportation Technology in Parsippany, New Jersey

This opportunity entails being responsible for supporting, designing and implementing data solutions that support our data related projects. You will be working with a wide range of transportation industry technology solutions related to but not limited to transportation oriented financial business process data, capital program management, asset management, work zone management, traffic operations, and traffic modelling. You will also work closely with project managers and senior data engineers to provide them with the data they need to perform their tasks.
This position can be located in any HNTB office location in the US.
What You'll Do:
Designs, develops, and deploys data pipelines and systems using SQL, AWS, Python, and other technologies
Implements best practices for data engineering, such as data modeling, data quality, data governance, data security, etc.
Performs data analysis, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure data accuracy and integrity
Monitors, optimizes, and maintains existing data pipelines and systems for performance and scalability
Researches and evaluates new data technologies and tools to improve data engineering processes and capabilities
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and deliver data solutions that meet or exceed expectations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and 3 years of related experience, or,
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and 2 years of related experience, or,
In lieu of education, 7 years of relevant experience.
What You'll Bring:
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, Project, SharePoint, Teams)
Experience with ETL tools and frameworks including Microsoft Power Platform
Proficiency in SQL queries and database management
Experience with Python or other programming languages for data manipulation and automation (NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib)
Experience with data quality tools and methods
Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively
A keen interest in learning and staying current on transportation technologies
What We Prefer:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, or related field
Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering
1 year experience in the Transportation industry strongly preferred
