This opportunity entails working with professional staff in scheduling work and assigning support staff to their projects. Performs work similar to other CAD Technicians with primary emphasis on transportation plans production. Coordinates various levels of tasks assigned by the CAD Manager to ensure that schedules and quality of work are maintained. Works with professional staff on scheduled work and supports other team members on their projects. Responsible for resolving technical design problems that may include performing field investigation or inspections, detailed design work and detailed checking of design computations done by others.
Develops non-routine and complex plans, specifications, and reports.
Develops and implements operations procedures, methods and work systems to ensure effective
and efficient internal operations.
Incorporates and compiles multiple sub-plans/designs into consolidated master plan.
Coordinates assignments with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Teach and mentor technical CAD skills in MicroStation and AutoCAD systems.
Develop structural details and plan sheets.
Substantial interaction / coordination with engineers, discipline leads and sub-consultants regarding plan preparation.
What You’ll Do:
Responsible for verifying the accuracy of drawings, compatibility of work across disciplines and for checking detail and quantity calculations. Calculates design data, prepares layouts, detailed specifications, estimates, reports, etc.
Assists in preparing engineering studies and evaluations involved in the development of projects from initial concept to the design stage, with the assistance from the project engineer/architect.
Attends project and pre-construction meetings and provides input to ensure proper policies, procedures, and specifications are followed.
Responsible for resolving technical design problems that may include performing field investigation or inspections, detailed design work and data.
Performs general administrative assistance by maintaining complex project plans. May develop documentation, budget figures, staffing needs and training plans, goals and accomplishments for project management reports; monitors accomplishments as related to targeted goals.
Makes recommendations regarding process improvement for project delivery at the office level.
Calculates quantities and performs engineering related computations.
Ability to work effectively and participate in working relationships with clients and sub-contractors.
Provides training and mentoring of less experienced technicians. May assist in coordinating work efforts and reviewing work performed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need:
Associate of Science or Technical School
8 years related experience
In lieu of education, 10 years related experience
Proficient in the terminology and symbols used in survey notes, plans, shop drawings, aerial photographs, and maps related to a specific Engineering sub-type
What We Prefer:
Technical School or equivalent industry experience
Minimum 6 years related experience
Extensive knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation including Open Bridge, sufficient to work independently.
Knowledge of Microsoft software and applications.
Knowledge of Bluebeam software.
Knowledge of 3D modeling software and applications.
Knowledge of Civil/Highway/Bridge terminology and plan production processes.
