HNTB Sr Project Engineer - Transportation in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

What We're Looking For

We are looking for an experienced and technically sound engineer who is ready to be challenged on projects that could consist of corridor improvements, bridge replacements, interstate widening, transit-oriented site development and multimodal projects. The engineer will coordinate efforts of a design team to deliver quality work, on time, on budget and to the client’s satisfaction on every project. Coordinates efforts of assigned design team to ensure completeness and accuracy of design effort. They will serve as a technical liaison for clients such as PennDOT, Pennsylvania Turnpike, SEPTA, Amtrak, and DRPA. We offer a flexible work schedule and the position could be located in any of our Pennsylvania offices.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Experience preparing reports, plans, calculations, estimates and designs for transportation projects such as:

  • Basis of Design

  • Line and Grade

  • Safety Review

  • Design Field View

  • Right of Way

  • Traffic Control

  • Signing & Pavement Marking

  • Cross Section

  • Final Design plans and specifications.

  • Strong background and technical proficiency in transportation engineering

  • Experience in task lead role as part of a large project team

  • Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects

  • Provide technical expertise on all project aspects associated with conceptual engineering, detailed engineering design, and preparation of contract documents (scope and fee)

  • Responsible for ensuring completeness and accuracy of work prepared by a design team

  • Organize scheduling of specific tasks and assignments

  • Assist with project management duties

  • Deliver project discipline scope elements within budget and schedule

  • Ability to collaborate internally with project team and externally with clients and stakeholder groups

  • Mentor less experienced engineers on technical designs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering

  • Professional Engineer Certification

  • Experience with Microstation

  • Experience with PennDOT, Pennsylvania Turnpike, SEPTA and Amtrak

  • 12 years of experience with roadway designs


What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the delivery of project discipline scope elements within budget and schedule.

  • Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work. Supervises and guides team to overall project objectives.

  • Provides senior-level technical expertise to client on project aspects within the discipline.

  • Assists with project management duties.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • 10 years relevant experience
