HNTB Sr Team Lead - Science in Princeton, New Jersey

This opportunity entails being responsible for applying the principles and theories of geology, hydrology, chemistry, biology or other related sciences to analyze the potential effects a project may have on the environment and/or the potential effects the environment may have on the design and construction of a project. This position is a lead role to direct, mentor and train junior staff. Participates in complex projects or all levels of project/program difficulty and/or may be responsible for an assigned phase of project or program. This position is a lead role that directs, mentors, trains, and oversees the work of earlier career staff.

What You'll Do:

  • Oversees a team and the daily work assignments of one or more scientific disciplines.

  • Reviews technical reports and findings related to area of expertise which may consist of historic resource surveys, cultural resources investigations, archaeological inventory and excavation, and environmental science impacts.

  • Directs archaeological and environmental compliance investigations and is responsible for the planning, implementation, and reporting of scientific discipline projects.

  • Provides technical-scientific support and advice on environmental issues to project managers during the planning, design, and construction of proposed and in-progress projects.

  • Prioritizes and participates in the marketing and proposal preparation of potential opportunities or projects.

  • Leads the preparation of applications and supporting documents for local, state, and federal environmental permits as well as other regulatory compliance laws and regulations.

  • Organizes and participates in public meetings. Attends various meetings with clients, other engineering firms, and staff and may lead discussions on environmental science issues.

  • Recruits, hires, develops and retains staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession. Coordinates schedules and approves timecards.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Archeology, Anthropology, Heritage Preservation, Historic Preservation, History, or related field and 8 years relevant experience, or

  • Master's Degree in Geology, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Archeology, Anthropology, Heritage Preservation, Historic Preservation, History, or related field and 7 years of relevant experience

What We Prefer:

  • Project management and construction inspection services of maintenance dredging projects.

  • Experience with NJDOT Office of Maritime Resources projects.

  • Experience with FEMA Request for Reimbursement packages.

  • Oversight of dredge material management strategies, such as geotextile tubes, belt presses, sand separators, beach placement, thin-layer placement, and confined disposal facilities.
