HNTB Civil Engineer III in Raleigh, North Carolina

What We're Looking For

HNTB is looking for a Civil Engineer III passionate about applying innovative solutions to solve challenges experienced throughout the project delivery process (design and construction). The ideal candidate will be a creative and forward-thinking problem solver that would be part of our Strategic Services Team in the Raleigh Office. This team is responsible for collaborating with the NCDOT to incorporate innovative ideas, best practices and collectively develop processes that drive programmatic efficiencies across the entire project delivery process (from concept through construction). This position will be responsible for performing a variety of engineering-related tasks with minimal direction including collaborating with various NCDOT business units to develop and review technical documents, creating presentations, updating and maintaining project schedules and identifying opportunities to incorporate efficiencies and best practices into the project delivery process.

This position requires knowledge of the NCDOT project delivery process, strong communication skills, the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment, and the engineering knowledge and technical skills necessary to ensure high-quality deliverables are developed on time and on budget.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Assist the team in the development and review of a variety of technical documents and creates presentations of results that can be presented to a diverse group of clients and the public

  • Communicates effectively with Strategic Services team members to deliver high quality deliverables that adequately meets our clients needs and is delivered on time and within budget.

  • Collaborates and effectively communicates with multiple disciplines within the office and across a variety of NCDOT business units

  • Investigate alternative project delivery efficiencies and best practices, gather information and make recommendations as to how to improve the delivery process.

  • Updates and maintains project schedules

  • Provides technical support for final deliverables review and quality assurance/control

  • Provides technical expertise in project aspects

  • Builds effective client relationships

  • Participates in strategic service related meetings

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience with Microsoft Project

  • Time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Effective written and oral communication skills

  • Analytical and problem solving skills and techniques

  • PE License

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for completion of discipline engineering project elements such as reports, designs, specifications and plans.

  • Responsible for coordination and productivity of subordinates. Provides technical guidance to less experienced engineers.

  • Works closely with other disciplines and multi-discipline projects.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • 5 years relevant experience
