HNTB Planner II in San Antonio, Texas
What We're Looking For
Under general supervision, performs all aspects of transportation and transit planning assignments. Work emphasizes technical aspects of projects but may include limited task assignee duties and tasks associated with business development. May assist in directing small-scale planning projects and portions of larger projects.
What You’ll Do:
Research data sources, gathers data, and conducts analysis of data for use in projects.
Identifies planning and analysis strategies using tools such as GIS, traffic, or safety software to manipulate data, assess scenarios and perform project analysis.
Investigates and evaluates the planning processes and technical solutions that best meet the project needs.
Coordinates internally and externally with project team members, including other discipline areas involved with the project.
Prepares maps, exhibits, and presentation materials for projects.
Conducts research on issues, policies, and concepts pertaining to planning.
Assists in the development of conceptual planning alternatives for urban and transportation planning projects.
Drafts sections of and performs tasks related to the preparation and production of plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents for transportation and infrastructure projects.
May participate in public process and stakeholder facilitation.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need:
Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering or related field and 2 years of relevant experience, or
Master's Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering or related field and 1 year of relevant experience
Primary Focus Will Include:
Transit, roadway, and environmental planning
Provide guidance and technical assistance to state Department of Transportation and MPO staff on current Federal planning requirements, policies, procedures, and guidance
Assist with technical reports and planning documents related to multi-modal transportation projects
Help implement methodologies and technical solutions for planning projects.
Coordinate with team members from multiple discipline areas.
Analyze alternatives, evaluate impacts/benefits of projects and make recommendations.
Help advance projects through the transportation project development process.
Gathering data to assist with environmental and transportation analyses, including demographics along with other social and natural resources.
Apply planning and analysis strategies using tools, such as GIS, to manipulate data, assess scenarios, and perform project analysis.
Assist with grant writing opportunities
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
AICP certification desired
Proficiency in ArcGIS Online and Tableau
Proficiency in Microsoft suite
MPO Regional and Statewide Planning Experience
