HNTB Sr. Urban Designer / Landscape Architect in Seattle, Washington

Supervises design assignments and the technical production of urban design plans, design development drawings and construction documents. Coordinates efforts with project manager, design team and other disciplines on multiple, large-scale and complex projects to ensure that the client’s technical requirements for all urban design and landscape architecture aspects of project are fully met. Performs various project support tasks where urban design and landscape architecture involvement is required or requested on major, complex projects. May serve as a Project Manager on a limited basis for select large scale projects. Regular task assignee on multiple projects.

What You’ll Do:

  • Serves as technical lead and task lead on planning, landscape architecture, and urban design projects.

  • Interfaces with client group and community stakeholders. Conducts site visits to review implementation of project.

  • Responsible for significant portions of presentations and public facilitation.

  • Identifies and recommends appropriate technical procedures that should be used on a project.

  • Leads and prepares design documents, technical plans, and written reports on projects.

  • Develops and prepares work plans, scopes of work, fee proposals, and responses to RFP’s for projects.

  • Provides oversight in consistent delivery of quality work, on time, on budget, and to the client's satisfaction on every project.

  • Understands the design applications of construction materials, plan materials, construction methods, and the integration of landscape architecture and urban design with other disciplines.

  • Reviews shop drawings and requests for information.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Urban Design or related field and 10 years of related professional experience, or

  • Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Urban Design or related field and 9 years of related professional experience

What You’ll Bring:

  • Demonstrates advanced design and production skills with construction/technical competency (i.e., PS&E) utilizing attention to detail, with minimal oversight from Section Leader or Manager.

  • Coordinates with clients, sub-consultants and personnel within the firm on a regular basis to manage projects, maintaining strong relationships.

  • Practices strong project management skills.

  • Directs and supervises the work to the project team in coordination with the Section Leader or Manager.

  • Discovers project opportunities and initiates involvement in business development.

  • Possesses strong writing skills to support client proposals.

What We Prefer:

  • Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Urban Design or related field,

  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), Envision, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP), Registered Landscape Architect (RLA), Professional Landscape Architect (PLA), Registered Architect (RA)

The approximate pay range for Washington is $117,314.22 - $211,015.20. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
